With examinations on the horizon for Year 12 pupils there is no need to panic! It’s all just a matter of organising yourself properly to revise and there is plenty of help at hand as teachers are running coursework clinics to make sure you have everything completed. This page will help you to access sites of specific interest to your yeargroup, suggestions for additional sites will be most welcome. This is a very important stage in your career so please stay focused. The year will be over before you know it!!
1. Make sure that your workspace is peaceful and uncluttered - work at a desk or table if possible. Have all your notes to hand.
2. Plan your revision carefully - know exactly what each exam paper requires. Divide up each subject into manageable sections. Allow yourself regular breaks and sensible rewards.
3. Don’t leave your revision to the last moment - start early and build it up gradually. Pace yourself.
4. Make sure that your get enough sleep. Exercise regularly.
5. Make your revision active - read through your notes/textbook/revision guide, etc. then write down the key points.
6. Summarise the material - use bullet points, key words, spider diagrams. Set out your notes carefully - use colour to highlight the most important points. Put your notes on cards.
7. Go back through your revision notes - try explaining them to someone else - test yourself or ask a friend or relative to do so.
8. Use websites to give you a new perspective on your revision topics.
9. Try revising in a different location - in another room or in the school or public library. Revise occasionally with a friend - set each other questions.
10. Put yourself in the place of the examiner - what questions would your set?
